Frequently Asked Questions

As a small team committed to soft activism, we balance our time and resources to ensure we’re able to achieve our mission. We prioritise meaningful conversation and community engagement over profit, which means we don’t operate in the same way as other businesses. Our focus is on creating lasting change and staying present in the spaces that matter. Additionally, we are on a journey of learning and self-growth - we are by no means experts and our opinions are our own. If you have something to teach us, we’d love to here from you. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work toward our goals.

  • In alignment with our values, our paper-based products are intentionally designed to be home compostable and return to the earth. We believe there are already enough things in the world, and our focus is on creating items that minimise waste and encourage mindful consumption. We'd prefer our products not outlive us, as we aim to reduce our impact and promote a more sustainable way of living.

  • At Our Relationship with Clothes, we believe in fostering a respectful, supportive, and inclusive space for all. While we love engaging in conversations and understand that our relationship with clothes can be deeply personal and sometimes emotional, we expect every member of our community to adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a positive environment for everyone:

    1. Respect: Always engage with others in a manner that demonstrates respect for their opinions, experiences, and backgrounds. Disrespectful behavior, including personal attacks, name-calling, or derogatory language, will not be tolerated.

    2. Kindness: Treat others with kindness, recognising that everyone’s journey with clothes is unique. Offer constructive feedback and encouragement, rather than criticism or judgment.

    3. Empathy: Understand that the way we relate to clothing can be tied to personal values, cultural identity, and emotional experiences. Approach conversations with an open heart and mind, offering support and understanding.

    4. No Hate or Discrimination: Our space is inclusive. We do not tolerate hate speech, discrimination, or any form of exclusion based on race, gender, sexuality, body type, age, or any other personal characteristic.

    5. Constructive Dialogue: We welcome healthy debates and different perspectives, but we encourage all discussions to be civil and rooted in a desire for mutual understanding and growth. Disagreements should be handled with respect and a focus on productive dialogue.

    6. Safe Space for All: This is a space where everyone should feel safe and heard. Any behavior that makes others feel uncomfortable or unsafe will result in immediate action, including removal of comments or restriction of access.

    7. Confidentiality and Privacy: Do not share any personal information, including private conversations, without consent. Respect the privacy of others within the community.

    8. Positive Contributions: We encourage everyone to contribute positively to discussions. If you have concerns or feedback, reach out directly to us rather than airing grievances in public spaces.

By participating in our community, you agree to uphold these guidelines and help create a welcoming, respectful environment for everyone. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the removal of comments or restrictions to your access within our spaces.

  • We are committed to maintaining a positive and respectful environment in our digital spaces. To ensure that our platforms remain aligned with our values, we actively monitor all interactions. We will not hesitate to delete comments or restrict access to individuals who do not adhere to our community guidelines. Our goal is to foster a space where meaningful, supportive conversations can take place, and we ask everyone to respect these standards to help create a welcoming environment for all.

  • FUTURE FASHION

There are four main categories of diversity in fashion we consider at Our Relationship With Clothes: age, gender, ethnicity and size.

In the case of Future Fashion, each image represents a woman or women who are visually older.

Something that became apparent early on when using AI was that most of the resulting images were Caucasian, even though ethnicity or race wasn’t an instructive term. There is also little to no body diversity, with the majority of women generated being smaller or similar to the average of an Australian woman.

To balance this, specific instructions were given with varying degrees of success. We understand that AI draws references from existing photographs online and within its resources, so this lack of diversity may also comment on the broader lack of diversity online.

While we hope this grows and changes, we are optimistic that by inputting, pushing, selecting and favouriting images of older women, we are helping to affect the future outcome for age diversity in this space and inspire other creatives to do the same.

6,500+ images were created to produce the 100 images you see in this book. Not all AI is created equal.

    Production

We acknowledge that the current edition of Future Fashion doesn’t adhere to our revised production guidelines, and commit to reassessing in future print runs.
