Reflection Cube Residency - Mulberry

In October 2024, Liz Sunshine hosted an In Conversation event at Mulberry Chadstone to celebrate the brand’s B-Corp status. Featuring a conversation about Liz’s journey so far and her My Relationship With Clothes project, the event also showcased a collection of pre-loved Mulberry bags, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability. The Our Relationship with Clothes' interactive Reflection Cube was also in residence, inviting attendees to anonymously reflect on their relationship with clothing by answering a soft-activism question:  “Is a second-hand bag worn in or worn out?”. The evening provided an opportunity for self-reflection and open dialogue about consumption and responsibility in fashion. By encouraging honest reflection, the initiative aims to empower Australians to consume less and form a more mindful, intentional connection with clothing, ultimately driving positive change and raising awareness about overconsumption.

The question "Is a second-hand bag worn in or worn out?" invites reflection on the value and longevity of pre-owned items, particularly clothing and accessories. It challenges the perception of second-hand goods, asking whether they are seen as refreshed and still useful ("worn in") or discarded and no longer of value ("worn out"). This question explores the mindset behind consumption and disposal, encouraging a shift toward a more sustainable and mindful approach to fashion. It promotes the idea that second-hand items can have a new life and value beyond their original ownership.
